Yesterday, September 26, in Uzhgorod City Office of the MIA of Ukraine in Transcarpathian region, there was the training seminar for the police on "The problems of the application of the new Criminal Procedural Code of Ukraine" with the participation of the prosecutor of Uzhgorod Ivan Shtefaniuk.
The prosecutor of Uzhgorod Ivan Shtefaniuk organized a joint seminar with investigators of Uzhgorod city police department to ultimately avoid the discrepancies and problems in the application of the new CPC.
The aim of the event was to identify and outline solutions to problems during daily work with the innovations of the current Criminal Procedure Law. The experience of work under the new Criminal Procedure Code shows that law enforcement officers have adapted to innovations, but there are still disagreements and discrepancies, and this in turn can affect the outcome.
So, at the seminar they discussed such important issues as the private prosecution under the new Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, the order of undercover investigations, features of criminal proceedings against juveniles, execution of prosecutor’s written instructions by police officers and legal grounds for compensation.
The participants of the seminar put out for general discussion those issues that arise during all phases of pre-trial investigation – from registration of an incident to forwarding of the criminal proceedings to the court. Specifically, prosecutors and investigators of Uzhgorod city police department vividly discussed some situations that have occurred in their practice, as well as asked questions about possible cases that may occur during the preliminary investigation in terms of the new legislation.
