Council of Elders Uzhgorod supports the reconstruction project for Narodna sq.

Projects of the renewal and development of city parks, gardens and squares was discussed during the meeting of the head of the region Oleksandr Ledyda with the former and current heads of the regional center.

Now, with the support of the regional government, they have started works on the restoration of several parks. The management of UzhNU plan to fix up the park near the administration building (former Faculty of Economics). And Bishop Milan Shashik suggested to arrange a park with a monument to Maria Theresa near Uzhgorod Greek Catholic cathedral.

The Council of Elders also expressed their support of the reconstruction of Narodna square in Uzhgorod. Omelian Popovich, Emil Landowski, Stepan Sember, Serhiy Ratushnyak and the current mayor of the regional center Victor Pogorelov assured: they understand the importance of development and reconstruction of the city center, thus they support the creation of recreation area for residents near the regional administration building.

Emil Landowski also raised the issue of restoration of several more central squares of the city, particularly Bohdan Khmelnytsky Sq. In turn, the head of the region Oleksandr Ledyda promised to continue to make every effort for the development of the city.
