Uzhgorod municipal police bother entrepreneurs and prosecutors

Uzhgorod municipal police is the structure invented by former Mayor of Uzhgorod Serhiy Ratushnyak during his term. And the current mayor "inherited" the municipal police. Recently it became known that entrepreneurs complain about the abuse committed by officers of this service. 

At one of the sessions of Uzhgorod city council, two men in white shirts with the words "municipal police" were standing at the entrance. Contrary to the law, they physically prevented people to get to the hall and under unknown grounds checked journalists’ IDs. None of the law enforcement authorities still has not responded to the obvious violation…

Recently, Mrs. Tetyana, the co-owner of the store on Svoboda Avenue, also faced the activities of municipal policemen. According to her lawyer Oleksandr Peresolyak, the policemen illegally drew up a report on violations of landscaping rules.

 Mrs. Tetyana suspects that the police officers have repeatedly planted household waste under the door of her store in order to avenge.

 Following the complaint of "Velmart" supermarket manager, law enforcement agencies have already checked activities of the municipal police officers. And, as reported by the press service of the Uzhgorod Prosecutor, it was found out that the report on violations of landscaping rules had been drawn up by the municipal police officers in violation of the law. In particular, they did not hand a copy of the report to the store representative and did not explain his constitutional rights. As a result, the decision to impose a fine was canceled at the request of prosecutors.

So, lawyers advise all entrepreneurs: in case of doubt about the actions of municipal police officers, do not afraid to immediately challenge their reports at the prosecutors or in courts.
