On Sunday, July 7, in Ternopil region, two memorials of the First World War opened. Volunteers from Uzhgorod, Mukachevo and Svalyava also participate in the restoration of monuments under the supervision of experienced professionals.
The obelisk to soldiers of the 132nd Reserve Infantry Regiment of the Russian Imperial Army and the memorial at the mass grave, where remains of 36 soldiers of the Austria-Hungarian army are buried, located in the old cemetery in the city of Zalishchyky in Ternopil region, will be opened this Sunday, July 7.
The memorials have been completely renovated by volunteers of the Scout Federation "Galician Rus" with the support of the Foundation of Anatoliy Lisitsyn (Yaroslavl, Russia) in the framework of International Humanitarian Project "Memoria Patriae" (Homeland Memory). Mr. Anatoly personally contributed to the restoration of memorials, he met with Mayor of Zalishchyky Volodymyr Benevyat and the Director of "Dniester Canyon" Mykhailo Shkilnyuk.
During 10 days, teenagers and young people from Lviv, Volyn, Transcarpathian, Dnipropetrovsk, Rivne and Ternopil regoins and the cities of Kyiv and Sevastopol under the guidance of experienced experts were conducting a comprehensive reconstruction of the unique monuments of the First World War, the 100th anniversary of which will be marked in Europe in a year.
The opening of memorials will be held in Zalishchyky, in the old city cemetery, on Sunday, July 7, at 15.00.
