Yesterday, June 29, cyclist Igor Kal’chenko, arrived to Transcarpathian Chop, thus setting a national record.
Resident of Sumy set off on Monday, June 24, from the village of Izvaryne in Luhansk region (the most eastern point of Ukraine) and having travelled 1,800 kilometers in five days, reached the city of Chop (the most western point). The cyclist finished this route in 111 hours instead of scheduled 90 hours. Strong winds and rain slowed him down, the 7 dniv reported.
The bike trip "Across the country" was held to set the record and to promote cycling, the project coordinator Yuri Shvydky said, but primarily to show that there is such a man as Igor Kal’chenko for whom cycling is life.
