On Thursday, June 27, in Mizhhirya there was a roundtable on "Youth employment in mountainous districts of Transcarpathia."The meeting was attended by the Deputy Head of Transcarpathian Regional State Administration Mykhailo Popovich, the director of the Transcarpathian Regional Employment Center Yuri Fushchych, the Director of Agricultural Development Department of the Regional State Administration Andriy Hotko, representatives of district administrations and employment centers, employers and young people.
In the region, there are 609 settlements, 215 of which are designated as mountain ones (35.3%). Approximately 63% of the population are living in rural areas. As noted by the participants of the meeting, the issue of the active labor market shaping and ensuring a high level of employment of the economically active population, especially young people, is very relevant now. Therefore, it is necessary to take measures to create new jobs in rural areas, to develop farming, rural tourism, to rehabilite social infrastructure in rural areas and to encourage investors.
– In this respect, the state launched the program to create new jobs. The Employment Act is an important step towards strengthening of social protection and expanding employment opportunities for citizens. The new law provides for incentives for employers to create new jobs, support of youth employment, creating conditions for retraining of those who have proved to be uncompetitive in the labor market.
In March, they approved the Program for employment of Transcarpathian region population until 2017 to promote employment, particularly that of young people, especially those living in rural and mountain settlements, to increase rural employment, to revitalize the activities on the legalization of employment and so on.
