Observers from OPORA recorded violations in the election in Beregovo

In particular, at the 6th station a voter, who had previously applied for voting at home, could not vote. However, he came to the polling station after voting at home had ended. Members of the PSC allowed him to throw a ballot into the box.

At the 2nd station (school building), the candidate from "United Center" Olga Bizilya was not allowed into the principal’s office at the time when observers were there. The principal himself was not in the office. However, according to him, he gave the key to the observer – representative of the candidate for the mayor Zoltan Babyak, supported by the government. The head of the PSC said she did not know about what was happening in the principle’s office. Olga Bizilya though is not going to report that to the police because she believes that it will be difficult to prove it.

At the 2nd station an OPORA observer recorded cases of two persons voting in a voting booth. After the remarks of our observer, the head of the commission did not allowed that anymore.

Recall that OPORA utilizes a parallel vote count – a method of observation that allows to collect information on voter turnout and election results. The results of OPORA calculations will be available immediately after the voting at http://oporaua.org/ .

To note: As of 16.00, the turnout on the special election of the mayor of Beregovo is 38%. The parallel calculation of turnout by the observers of OPORA shows that the turnout is 37, 2%.
