In Transcarpathia they plan to publish two volume collection of unique photos by the Czech art critic Florian Zapletal.
in 1920 Mr. Zapletal was appointed as the military adviser to the governor of Carpathian Ruthenia Hryhory Zhatkovych. Along with his official duties, he contributed to several Czech newspapers and photographed architecture, such as temples, churches, including the unique wooden ones. His photos and descriptions preserved for us the look and features of many churches that have since been lost forever.
Late last year, in Uzhgorod in the Transcarpathian Regional Administration building there was an exhibition of photos of wooden churches, including those by Zapletal.
The plans to publish two volume collection were announced by Transcarpathian art critic Mykhailo Syrokhman on May 8 at the international conference on the project "Tourist routes to a common religious and cultural heritage" in the framework of cross-border cooperation "Hungary-Slovakia-Romania-Ukraine 2007-2013". At the conference they showed about three dozen photos by Zapletal, and in total, according to Syrokhman, there are about 800 of them.
