Monopoly on chimneys and ventilation

In the first quarter of this year the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine prevented 4 cases of unfair competition relating to unfair advertising. As the head of the Transcarpathian Office of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine, Petro Kharchenko announced today, April 16, this refers, in particular, to arbitrary use of the word "clinic" in advertisements by certain medical institutions. Also, another 12 facilities have been recommended to control unjustified increases of medicines prices during the SARS spread.

Overall, for the first quarter of 2013, the Office received 20 statements, one complaint and appeal respectively on violations of the law on protection of economic competition. In turn, the Antimonopoly Committee prevented 11 infractions, such as abuse of dominant market position in the field of paid administrative cadastre services and phytosanitary procedures and certificates issuing, services for inspection of the technical condition of chimneys and ventilation etc. Another violation was committed by a local authority body: they refused to create a ritual service.

Overall, for the first quarter of 2013, 51,000 UAH of fines have been imposed. The amount of funds paid to the state budget is 74,000 UAH.
