At the beginning of spring, fires associated with burning of dry grass, fallen leaves and other plant debris in fields and gardens are a real disaster. In 2012, in Uzhgorod and Uzhgorod district, MOE units performed 224 operations to extinguish dry grass and shrubs when fire destroyed four summer buildings, a water pumping station, wooden fences, grape plantings.
Please note that in accordance with Article 77-1 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offences, burning of stubble fields, meadows, pastures, areas with prairie, wetlands and other natural vegetation and fallen leaves in parks and other green areas and lawns without a permit of state control bodies in the field of environment protection or in violation of such a permit provisions is subject to administrative liability. In this case, individuals will have to pay a fine of 170 to 340 UAH, and officials – 850 to 1,190 UAH.
Given this, the district department of emergencies ask the residents of the district:
– Do not burn dry grass on the fields;
– Be very careful when dealing with open fire;
– Do not leave the bonfire unattended;
– Do not make bonfire near houses and estates;
– Provide the primary means of fire extinguishing.
