220 pills of a prohibited psychotropic medicine were detained at the border

A citizen of the Russian Federation failed to carry 220 pills of the psychotropic medicine "TAMESTA" across Ukrainian-Hungarian border, informed the spokeswoman for Chop customs Victoria Senhetovska.

Returning from the Austrian capital to Dnipropetrovsk region by a car "Mercedes Benz", the Russian chose border crossing customs post "Tisa". During the customs control he consciously chose a simplified lane – "green corridor". But customs officers decided to check the foreigner.

The inspection of the luggage compartment with the personal belongings of the driver confirmed doubts of the inspectors. Among the personal belongings of the Russian citizen there were undeclared 220 pills containing the active substance "lorazepam".  The man explaned that psychotropic medicine did not belong to him, and he was carrying it at the request of his mother’s friend, who lives in Vienna.

The identified pills are listed in the list of psychotropic substances with limited circulation and can be carried across the border only with a special permission.

At the time of crossing the customs border of Ukraine the citizen of Russian Federation did not have any permits.  

These actions are considered to be a violation of customs rules under the Article 471 of the Customs Code of Ukraine.
