Prosecutors restored rights of more than 4,200 children

Due to the coordinated actions of law enforcement agencies a stable tendency for reducing the number of juvenile crimes and the number of juveniles who have committed a crime has been achieved. This was announced by the Prosecutor of Transcarpathia Anatoly Petrunya during the conference of the prosecution authorities to review the results of work in 2012.
He noted that this year due to prosecutorial response, the rights of more than 4,200 children have been actually protected.
"In particular, over half a million hryvnias have been refunded in their favor.  Charges against 350 officials, including 18 officials of controlling bodies, have been brought. – said the regional prosecutor.
He stressed that the main task in this field (juvenile justice – Ed.) is a comprehensive approach. In particular, prosecutors, specifically dealing with the protection of rights of children in conflict with the law, must know the measures of crime prevention, ensuring the rights of minors to education and work, recreation and meaningful leisure.
"Therefore, I demand that every prosecutor seek to ensure that every child’s interests are protected as required by law," – said the prosecutor of Transcarpathia.
