November 8-9, 2012 in Uzhgorod there will be trainings on human rights and master classes in film making and photography with the participation of well-known defenders Maxim Butkevich, Zoltan Shomodvari, photographer and documentary film maker Oleksandr Glyadelov, and film producer Andriy Suyarko.
The event is held as part of the II Contest of short films "Migration – an attempt to escape or the right to a better life?", organized by the charity organization "Medical Aid Committee in Transcarpathia" and Project Cinemahall in Uzhgorod. The competition itself runs from October 15 to December 30, 2012. Its purpose is to support creative initiatives of youth and attract young people to the problems of migration, racism and xenophobia, to contribute to the prevention of negative social phenomena among youth. The competition may be entred by all applicants aged 18 years or older by preparing a video work under the terms of the competition and sending it to the organizers (for details – visit www.cam-z.org). The winner of the contest will receive a trip to the international film festival, the winners in each of the categories will be rewarded.
During the two-day workshop, participants will be able to participate in training on human rights and related issues involving migration legal counsel of the Hungarian Helsinki Committee Zoltan Shomodvari, scientist Mark Shpir and "Without Borders" Project Coordinator Maxim Butkevich. Well-known in Ukraine and abroad photographer, author of 4 photobooks and 30 personal photo exhibitions worldwide Oleksandr Glyadyelov will give a master class on documentary photography and show how to combine creativity with the covering of serious problems of refugees, migration, integration, racism and so on. Also there will be creative meeting with Ukrainian film producer Andriy Suyarko and a master-class with writer Vasyl Melnik.
An additional surprise at the workshop will be a meeting with migrants from Sri Lanka who will treat the participants with tea, which they brought from their homeland.
The seminar will be held November 8-9, 2012 at 18.00 at the Academic Chamber Choir "Cantus" in the regional House of Culture at: Uzhgorod, Ruska st., 3.
