Members of the executive committee of Uzhgorod city council at the meeting which has just ended, approved the program of transfer of dormitories to the community.
The program was developed on the instructions of the Regional State Administration, informed the head of Municipal Economy Department Oleksiy Kasperov. He reported that 19 dormitories had been renovated at the expense of residents, and 5 more that had been transferred to municipal ownership, were still under repairs. 5 Uzhgorod dormitories will remain in private ownership.
It is planned to transfer 7 dormitories with a total area of almost 10,000 square meters.
The programme (which was posted on the Uzhgorod City Council site yesterday) provides a joint participation of the government and dormitory tenants in the works that would precede the transfer of the buildings, because, according to the rules the dormitories must be repaired before changing the ownership.
As Mayor Victor Pogorelov said, by taking dormitories to municipal property the city takes on all the problems associated with the housing. He asked the members of the executive committee to consider this issue seriously. Therefore they decided to begin works on the program implementation and to start the procedure for taking dormitories in communal ownership.
