The fencing championship of Ukraine in Uzhgorod gathers about 500 participants from all over Ukraine, including 5 Olympic medalists, about 30 World and European champions. About 30 Transcarpathian athletes will participate in the Championship, said the chairman of the Regional Fencing Federation Mykhailo Panto.
Fencing Championship of Ukraine is held in Transcarpathia for the second time since the independence. For the first time fencers gathered here last year. Transcarpathian school of fencing is currently in the top five in Ukraine.
The fencing championship of Ukraine will be held in "Yunist" sport complex from September 25 to October 3, 2 days for each category (rapier, sword, saber).
The main organizers of the Fencing Championship of Ukraine are the Ministry of Education, Family, Youth and Sports ofUkraine; Youth and Sports Agency of the Transcarpathian Regional Administration, Fencing Federation of Transcarpathia. The opening is on 25 September at 11.00.
