Netherlands return control on the Shengen border

Netherlands returns control of their borders with Belgium and Germany. Human rights defenders claim that this decision, except the deterioration of neighborhood relations, directly violates the Schengen legislation.

However, the Dutch authority insists that the video system control after abroad is designed to monitor drug trafficking, illegal migration and smuggling. The desire ‘to observe’ after abroad was announced in 2010. However, it has not been implemented due to accusations of Schengen rules violation. But now Brussels edition Euobserver writes that the European Commission decided that border surveillance does not contradict the Schengen and European legislation.

The initiators of innovations claim that tourists will not suffer from this. Cameras will only fix the car numbers and transfer information to the law enforcement services that and will choose which car to stop for inspection.
