Border guards want tour operators to warn them

Today, 17 July, at the Chop border, border guards and representatives of travel agencies held a meeting, whose goal should be an agreement on exchange of information.

Actually, there weren’t many tour operators at the meeting. Therefore the meeting was more of an organizational nature. As the Acting Head of Chop border squad Victor Potetenin explained, border guards are interested in preserving the system, implemented during the Euro 2012, for the summer tourist season, because now queues at the border appear largely because of coaches. "We want to offer tour operators to send us an email giving the following information: a date of travel, a checkpoint where the bus is going to pass the border, a number of tourists and a number of a license plate of the bus, which tourists are travelling by. After receiving such a notice, we will be able to properly plan our work, to calculate the necessary number of employees, i.e. to do everything for the tourists to pass the border quickly".

According to the border guards, in the summer months the influx of tourists has increased by 33%. 55% of all tourist buses cross the border through the checkpoint "Tisa".
