15-year-old Kristina Pindzholia from Uzhgorod, died from electric current when she was swimming in the river of Uzh.
– Kristina was buried on the fifth, on Thursday. Today is the seventh day after her death. She was commemorated in the church – said 34-year-old Victoria Pindzholia, Kristina’s mother.
We met near the Viktoriia’s house on Sobranetska Street, on Monday.
– Four of us lived together: me, my 82-year grandmother and two daughters – Kristina, and 12-year-old Zhenia. I divorced with my husband. I work at two jobs – in the security firm and in the flower shop. Christina was very smart girl, went at the competitions in French language. This year, she graduated from the 10th grade. We thought she will apply to the French language and literature faculty for the next year.
Viktoriia Pidzholia had fight with her daughter before the tragedy.
– On Monday morning, I wrote girls a list of what they have to do during the day. And went to work – that day I was working as a security guard. In the afternoon Kristina called and said, ‘Mom, I’m sorry, please, I’m so bad. I love you very-very much. I’ve done everything you said. Can I go sunbathing to the river?’ I let her go. The daughter agreed to meet with her classmate Sasha Sayenko. Both went on the quay to the restaurant ‘Venetsia’ – they always rested there. The smaller, Zhenia, was at home – Kristina never took her with them.
The girl was killed in the river by electric current.
The mother of 16-year old Olexandra Sayenko called Viktoriia at 4.30 p.m.
I was preparing to let home an enterprise worker on the entrance – remembers Victoria. – Khrystyna said, drive to ‘Venetsia’ your daughter feels bad – the foam went from her mouth. I thought that the daughter overheated in the sun. I asked a friend to drive me on the quay. When I came down to the river, the doctors carried her on the stretchers. The restaurant owner Oleksandr Opshytnyk helped them. I noticed that the foot of the daughter turned blue. She was taken to intensive care, and in 10 minutes the doctor said me ‘your daughter is dead’.
Victoria Pindzholia returned back to the quay.
– Khrystyna Sayenko said that her daughter was struck by electric current when they swam with Sasha. Three pumps that pumped water in the restaurant’s pool were thrown in the river. Later, the police said they were not grounded.
The girls came out of the water, when Sasha felt that something pinched her – said the father of Oleksandra Sayenko Anatoliy Sayenko, 55-year old. – She managed to ask whether Kristina felt something. She nodded and fell into the water. Sasha was in meter from a friend. She grabbed her hand, coz she thought that Kristina slipped down. But she was already struck. Foam went from Kristiana’s mouth. Sasha called for help. Two girls ran, but felt electric current’s pinch and returned. Then men ran and one of them turned off the pump and Kristian was pulled on ashore. ‘Emergency’ arrived somewhere in 15 minutes, but Kristina has not submitted signs of life.
Oleksandra stayed for four days in intensive care. Then she was transferred to the regional children’s hospital.
– The specialists tell that if my daughter grabbed Kristina stronger there could be two dead bodies – continues Anatoly Sayenko. – Now Sasha has tachycardia and a breach of heart’s conduction system. Her heart can stop if we do not treat her.
Uzhgorod Prosecutor’s Office initiated the criminal proceedings on the fact of murder from negligence. The city police department investigates.
The Prosecutor is not ready to say what punishment will have the perpetrator.
– Article 119, under which is the criminal case, provides three to five years of liberty deprivation or imprisonment for the same term.
Victoria Pindzholia said that somebody will try to close the case.
– The owner of the restaurant has a lot of money. But I will stand to the last.
Oleksandr Opshytnyk, who rents the premises of the restaurant and built up around it swimming pool, said:
– As long as there is no the examination, I cannot say anything. The cable of the pump, for example, could get on a sharp stone and broke.
