Uzhgorod City Mayor Viktor Pogorelov, outraged together with other Ukrainian football fans events during the match with England yesterday, initiating an appeal of local authorities and Uzhgorod citizens to UEFA with the protest of recognizing the meeting refereeing when the Ukraine’s scored goal was not enrolled.
‘There were many calls from the local councilors during the match yesterday, all were outraged by the refereeing team’s actions when the scored goal in the English team’s net was not enrolled and the penalty was not appointed, although we all saw the play with a hand. Uzhgorod deputies were even ready to convene an extraordinary session today. But later on they decided to prepare and send the appeal on behalf of Uzhgorod City Council and Uzhgorod citizens expressing the refereeing protest. All those who support such a position are suggested to sign this appeal.’ – said Viktor Pogorelov. City government believes that this action is the reasonable step to the protection of Ukraine in the international sport.
‘I think that Euro proves: professionalism should be not only in the infrastructure issues, services work during tournament, but, actually in sport. Sport is an integral part of our lives. Currently, all of us are living with football during Euro 2012 all of us are fans and we have to express our opinion in support of Ukrainian’s position in this league’ – quoting the mayor his press secretary Alla Khaiatova.
