The average national unemployment rate was 7,9% at the beginning of 2012, according to the selective studies of the population’s economic activity.
5,6 candidates pretended to one vacancy in Ukraine on May, when in April this index was 6,4 persons for place. These data were given by the State Service Statistics.
The official unemployment rate in May remained at the April’s level of 1,7% of the workforce. 464,8 thousand unemployed were registered in Ukraine at the end of May, informs State Statistics. There were 486 thousand last month.
The number of unemployed who have received assistance from the state in April was 340,2 thousand people, the average amount of assistance per one unemployed was 965 hryvnia this month.
It should be noted that according to the former Economy Minister Bogdan Danylyshyn, on average the labor supply in regions exceeds the demand in 30 times, in particular in Ivano-Frankivsk region – in 329, Volyn – 137, Lviv – in 103. Starting from 20 and up to 50% of unemployed does not work more than one year.
According to the selective studies of the population’s economic activity, the average national unemployment rate was 7,9% at the beginning of 2012, 8,1% was at the beginning of 2011 and 6,4% at the beginning of 2009.
International Labor Organization believes that unemployment in Ukraine three times higher than the official data.
