Former UzhNU pro-rectors challenge their dismissal in court

Former UzhNU pro-rectors Alexander Slyvka and Igor Studenyak have refused to write a letter of resignation, as they reported to Zakarpattya online. After getting acquainted with the order of dismissal, they concluded that it did not conform to the Labor Code and UzhNU Statute. This will be the basis for the appeal against the decision in court.

In addition, Igor Studenyak is convinced that there were no real reasons for their dismissal. Acting rector has no right to dismiss legitimate pro-rectors, who were elected by the Scientific Council. "The function of an acting rector is organization of the life-sustaining activity of the university for the period before the elections. He has no right to appoint, dismiss, reorganize, etc. Especially – reorganize", said Igor Studenyak.

Alexandr Slyvka believes that the statements of newly appointed Acting Rector of the oldest university in Transcarpathia show that the new management "does not understand the pressing problems of the university". Thus, in particular, the sum announced by him as a duty and miscalculations of the former leadership is in fact the money which the Ministry ows for utilities and salaries.

The only "discreet and democratic way out" from a difficult situation according to Alexandr Slyvka is announcement of the contest for the post of rector. "In any possible way we should prevent any reorganization of the university", said Alexandr Slyvka.
