Due to heavy rains flood is expected in the western regions – Met

In the western regions of Ukraine as a result of heavy rains, rain floods with increasing water levels in rivers are expected.

Ukrainian Meteorological Centre warned of this.

Forecasters promise heavy rains throughout Ukraine and in the Carpathian Mountains – very strong rains with sleet on Wednesday, May 16, in the western regions, and on Thursday afternoon, May 17. In addition, there might be thunderstorms or even hail squalls of 15-20 m/s in some areas.

Due to the expected rainfall in the evening on May 16 and all days on May 17-18, in the basins of the rivers Syana, Dniester (Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk region) and the rivers of Transcarpathia, rain floods with increasing water levels for 0.5-1.5 m, in some areas up to 2.0 m, Tisa on the area Velyky Bychkiv – Vylok, in the lower currents of Latoritsa and Borzhava – 1.5 – 2.5 m. Water may go out to sloughs in some areas.
