City and district medicine integration was discussed in Uzhgorod

The region’s healthcare strategies discussion was held in the Uzhgorod City Council great hall, where the management day dedicated to the regional center of Uzhgorod district medicine theme took place. Considering the difficult situation it was decided to start the procedure of the second level medical centers creation which would unite Uzhgorod and Uzhgorod district. The next step is the other neighbor districts integration – Perechyn and Velekyy Bereznyy. To unite efforts and resources for the sake of effective medical care provision and a comfortable conditions for the service people are the future goals.

The Head of the Regional Health Care Administration Roman Shnitser pointed out: ‘We have two regional fields of medicine with a mass of problems in Uzhgorod and Uzhgorod district. And when we consider these two structures as a whole, we will come to the conclusion that the merger will lead to the 90% problem solution. This refers to the rational financing, personnel provision etc. The specialists share a common opinion on this issue and believe this reorganization reasonable’.

As City Mayor Viktor Pogorelov emphasized, an absolute aim is the quality of health care provided to the citizens. Uzhgorod is the center which provides education, work and infrastructure not only to the city dwellers but also to the people from the neighbor districts, including the municipal clinics service. Therefore, the institutions city and districts integration is more than just reasonable – it is on time.

The Chief Uzhgorod Central Municipal Hospital doctor Ivan Kurakh stressed that such resources pooling could provide a powerful chain of the second level medical care provision, that is, in hospitals, and Uzhgorod is ready for this.

All the specialists in cooperation have concluded that we should move from the strategic intention to the tactical actions. Currently, it is already established a working group, which will patronize the format and medical integration practical issues of Uzhgorod and Uzhgorod district, – informs the press service of Uzhgorod City Council.
