The Head of Regional State Administration Alexandr Ledyda met with the newly appointed Consul General of Slovakia in Uzhgorod Marian Mulik on Monday, April 23.
The Head of the region expressed the hope that those positive achievements that they managed to develop with the previous Consul General Marian Sladichek will continue. However, despite the fact that Transcarpathia has close relations with the Slovak Republic, some problems are still exist.
– The unsolved problems are the issuance of visas and crossing the Ukrainian-Slovak border. In this direction the cooperation is more active with the Hungarian diplomatic mission. What concerns the border crossing, a significant role plays the human dimension. I mean, that the Slovak law enforcement officers’ attitude to Ukrainian citizens is not always tolerant. I think we should continue our work on the solution of these issues – said Alexandr Ledyda.
Also relevant remains the question on the building of the checkpoint ‘Ulich-Zabrod’ which will have pedestrian, bicycle lanes and lane for passenger cars. It will be designed for tourists in the first place. The work of such item will contribute not only the strengthening of the cultural relations between two countries, but will also adjust the cooperation in the economic sphere. The European Union is ready to assume the funding of checkpoint construction – informs the press center of RSA.
