Khust authority with the support of MEU (Ministry of Emergencies of Ukraine) staff started clearing the driveway and the area around the Khust castle. Many days of work in the castle, which is the peculiarity of the town and the district, resulted in its better look, and as communal services say, it was released from the roots of trees that were destroying it from inside, said Chas Zakarpattya.
27 workers of the MEU were involved in cleaning the road leading to the castle and the area around the ruins, among them there were professional climbers, who specialize in cutting off the trees at a height, says Deputy Chief of Housing in Khust Anatoly Primak. – The cause of deforestation was first of all, dangerous trees in the castle itself. Most of them were just hanging over the road leading to the castle hill, and were a threat to Khust citizens and guests who visit the castle. Secondly, a lot of roots grew into the castle walls, especially in the basement, which could accelerate the destruction of the castle.
It is noticeable that bushes about 10-15 meters around the walls and a few meters along it were trimmed too.
In the near future Khust is planning to hold Saturday cleaning in order to clear up the territory of the Castle Hill, with the participation of educational institutions of the town.
However, as Deputy Mayor of Khust Ivan Fetko informed, a castle in the framework of Ukrainian-Polish grant project is waiting for a real renovation, with lighting and many other peculiarities. Town officials have already filed the plan, according to which Khust Castle has to become a proper modern tourist center of Khust district. The authorities have promised to tell us soon about the details of the plan.
