Driving and parking of vehicles weighing more than 3,5 tons in the central pedestrian part of the city shall be prohibited, the Uzhgorod city council informs.
The boundaries of the central pedestrian zone of Uzhgorod were approved today, May 8, at the meeting of the Executive Committee of Uzhgorod City Council. Those are Korzo, Augustine Voloshin streets (on the section from Koryatovich square to Kapitulna street), Teatralna square, Yevhen Fentsyk street, Nezalezhnist embankment (from Teatralna square to Dmitry Mendeleev street).
The second paragraph of the decision prohibits entry and parking of vehicles weighing more than 3.5 tons in the central pedestrian part of the city, including on weekends and holidays.
It is allowed to enter the central pedestrian part of the city only from the side of Nebesna Sotnya street in the working days from 5.00 to 8.00 for vehicles: servicing the enterprises located in this part of the city; citizens living in this part of the city; marked with the "Disabled" sign and driven by disabled drivers.
In the night hours, driving shall be prohibited – this amendment to the draft decision was suggested by the mayor Bohdan Andriyiv and supported by members of the executive committee.
In accordance with the decision, the Department of Municipal Economy of Uzhgorod City Council shall establish appropriate road signs and traffic limiters.
