Uzhgorod traffic policemen ask parents to help

Uzhgorod police distributed the appeal to city residents who have children. Traffic policemen were prompted to this action by a sharp increase in the number of accidents involving children. Thus, only this year, three road accidents involving children have already happened in the regional center.

On Domanynska street in Uzhgorod, a 61-year-old driver of "VAZ-2107", a resident of Perechyn, hit a 12-year-old girl who had suddenly rushed onto the roadway.

Another accident occurred on Svoboda Avenue when a 43-year-old driver of a car "Mercedes Vito", a resident of the city, hit a 9-year-old girl who had suddenly rushed onto the roadway.

The third accident occurred involving a 31-year-old driver of a car "Audi-100", a resident of the city. The man hit a 5-year-old boy, who was crossing the road with his grandmother at a pedestrian crossing on Hrushevsky street when returning home from kindergarten.

According to the police, the main cause of all road accidents involving children is ignoring the rules of the road and the low culture of behavior on the part of both drivers and children.

Uzhgorod police repeatedly points out to parents and teachers the necessity for preventive conversations with children on strict compliance with key provisions of the rules of the road. And they call upon drivers to be careful when driving on pedestrian crossings and in areas of possible presence of children.

In addition, the policemen say that casual passers-by should not remain indifferent. "If you witness a situation on the road that threatens the safety of children and adolescents, do not pass by – help children to cross the road, save them from accident," the statement of Uzhgorod City Police says.
