Uzhgorod swans have enough “clear water” (PHOTOFACT)

This morning, citizens wrote in social networks that swans might be in danger due to the fact that the surface of the Uzh is slowly getting covered with ice.

Some people suggested to call the rescuers so that they would break the ice around the birds.

We want to reassure concerned readers: the scale of the problem is somewhat exaggerated.

Firstly, at present, there is enough open water on the Uzh, even within Uzhgorod. Mostly near the monument to Voloshin. .

In the morning, the passersby counted as many as 17 birds there.

And in the afternoon, four birds flew away to look for a more cozy place, and 13 swans stayed.

By the way, there is also an area not covered with ice upstream the pedestrian bridge. Swans are wild birds, and they are adapted to outdoor conditions much better than we think they are. So, there is no point in raising alarm without good reasons.

It is also worth noting that, according to weather forecasters, the peak of colds has passed, and in the coming days the temperature will be much higher than last night.
