Uzhgorod residents are invited to the presentation of the slogan printing workshop “YOUR TEXT HERE”

On Monday, February 17, at 6:00 pm, the Transcarpathian Regional Universal Scientific Library named after M. F. Potushnyak will host the presentation of the slogan printing workshop "YOUR TEXT HERE" within the project "Library Connects People" with the participation of the artist from Hungary, Tunde Mezes.
The slogan printing workshop will run from February 17 to February 24, 2020.
During the workshop, the participants will do what they normally would: read, interpret, take notes, print, and take something home. The goal is to change the feeling of being alone in the library by working together, discussing, interpreting and actively engaging in the process.
The workshop works with words borrowed from advertising, tags, and other commonly used phrases. The participants will form their own slogans from a collection of approximately 100 words. These words are pre-cut as embossed print blocks. The embossed print, which is chosen as a method, allows everyone to print several variants of a personal slogan on paper, and take them home, while one copy remains in the library for a temporary display.
These personal slogans that reflect the thoughts and feelings of their authors will be discussed during the work. The limited number of words used reflects the imperfection of our expression in any language. Interpretations can be multiple. Using these "given" words also means safety – "I can say anything with them, those are not my words."
The project is intended for a wide range of participants and aims to create a safe place where anyone, regardless of age, gender or any background, can spend time together and share their thoughts.
Tunde Mezes: Hungarian, artist, teacher, participant in many solo and group exhibitions. She graduated from the Academy of Arts, Stuttgart, Germany, and the University of the Arts in Budapest, Hungary.
