The Open World Shidokan Karate Championship is taking place in the regional center of Transcarpathia. Today, June 9th, 270 athletes (200 children and 70 adults) from 16 countries gathered at the prestigious event: from Japan, the USA, Australia, Kuwait, Chile, Mongolia, Greece, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Germany, Hungary, France, Belgium, Armenia, Georgia and, of course, Ukraine. The tournament is taking place in the sports complex "Yunist".
Between fights, the official opening of the competition with the participation of the mayor Bohdan Andriyiv took place. Bohdan Andriyiv greeted all the participants of the world championship, thanked the guests from across the ocean who had traveled thousands kilometers to come to Uzhgorod, parents, trainers, and wished the athletes success and victories.
The honorary guest of the tournament is Kancho Yoshiji Soeno, the founder of the Shidokan Karate. Three years ago, when the World Cup was held in Budapest, the branch president of the Shidokan Karate in Ukraine, the chairman of the Transcarpathian Regional Schidokan Karate Federation Mykhailo Hodynets invited Yoshiji Soeno to Uzhgorod, where he held an international seminar. That was when Kancho Yoshiji Soeno decided that the World Shidokan Karate Championship in 2018 would take place in the regional center of Transcarpathia. Today, he is in our city for the second time, and tomorrow he will also hold a seminar.
The participants of the championship are competing in the following sections:
– KNOCKDOWN KARATE (adults)
– SHIDOKAN GLOVES (adults)
– KATA (16+)
– TRIATHLON (adults)
– KNOCKDOWN KARATE (children and juniors).
