One month has passed since the opening of the first eco-friendly garbage-sorting station in Uzhgorod.
Established at the initiative of the "Mustard Seed" lane team, the trash container not only allows to keep the neighborhood in the central part of the old city clean, but also collects quite a significant amount of recyclable materials.
According to the lane employee who concurrently serves as "the chief of the garbage-sorter" Ivan Shpontak, last month the sorting station collected 500 kg of paper, 40 kg of plastic and 400 kg of glass. In addition, they gathered a 5 liter jar of waste batteries that will soon be handed over for recycling.
According to Mr. Ivan, recyclable materials are delivered here from around the city. Citizens have expressed a desire to have similar sorting stations in other parts of the city.
Recall, the main goal of the team, that built the sorting station at their own expense, was to encourage successful local entrepreneurs to do the same and thus help to improve Uzhgorod, to make it cleaner and to make people more cultured.
