Uzhgorod deputies did not have enough votes to dissolve the Public Council

The draft decision on liquidation of the Public Council under Uzhgorod City Council was submitted for consideration of the City Council, but there was not enough votes for its adoption.

Immediately after putting the issue to a vote, members of the Public Council in the assembly hall began shouting.   However, there was not enough votes the dissolution of the Public Council, the decision was not passed.

Speaking after the voting, the chairman of the Public Council under the Uzhgorod City Council Oleksandr Peresolyak told about the pressure that has been exerted on the Public Coucncil for many months. He specifically accused a deputy of the city council and the First Deputy Mayor Ivan Voloshin and the Department of Municipal Economy controlled by him.

"Yes, we take a tough stance, we refuse to be controlled by certain individuals, therefore we are undesirable. However, this does not mean that even if the dissolution of the Public Council, we will stop reacting to such ourageous actions of the city council," – Oleksandr Peresolyak said.
