An annual international festival of puppet theater and games and entertainment for children and parents "VIRVAR" took place in the Slovak city of Kosice. During the festival, there was the premiere of a theatrical production "Magic balloon".
The production is a joint creative project by Transcarpathian Regional Academic Puppet Theater in Uzhgorod and Puppet Theatre in Košice. In general, the international art project "Wandering Puppets" of the said theaters and their partners consists of two parts: ten television adaptations of regional legends from Eastern Slovakia and Transcarpathian Ukraine and the joint theatrical production "Magic Balloon".
The play, designed for the widest target audience, includes live action and use of puppets of different systems, it can be shown not only on stage, but also outside theater buildings – in the open space.
So, the premiere of "Magic Balloon" took place in Kosice on June 5 at the festival "VIRVAR", and the next day – in Roznava. The project was presented by its managers and participants of both the Slovak and the Ukrainian parties. In particular, it was attended by the head of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration Department of Culture Victoria Frolova, the Director of the Transcarpathian Regional Academic Puppet Theater Miroslav Petiy, the stage designer of the play, Kyiv artist Olga Filonchuk.
The audience liked the interesting production, and next presentations of the project will be held soon. In Uzhgorod, the premiere performances is scheduled for September 10.
