Unknown stole an antique valve from the pedestal of Uzhgorod ancient monument

Another act of vandalism in Uzhgorod: unknown stole an antique valve from the pedestal of Uzhgorod ancient monument, restored in May last year to honour the saint Ian Nepomutskiy.

As the patron, who participated in the restoration of the monument, Alexandr Sukhanov, said malefactors stole a more than 100-year-old brass valve, which was specially bought for the monument from Lviv collectors of antiques. Sukhanov, together with the head of the department of tourism UzhNU Shandor Fedor blocked the water flow which had been regulated by the valve.

After Easter, the monument is to be restored so that water will drip over a bronze washbasin, but it won’t be regulated by the crane, which has not passed ‘the test for humanity’of Kalvaria visitors, reports Zaholovok.
