State Statistics Committee has calculated that an average Ukrainian spends more than half of income on food. And the menu does not consist of healthy food. Basically these are dairy products, eggs and vegetables. Fruit and meat do not occupy a key position in the diet of Ukrainians, but people more often skimp on fish.
At the same time, proper diet consisting of quark, eggs, salad and fruit cost two and a half times more than the price of a typical Ukrainian breakfast: coffee and a sandwich with cheese or sausage. However, in the opinion of the doctor-nutritionist Piskunova Innesa, with such food Ukrainians win nothing but health problems and money loss for health care, though they spend more than 70% of their income on food.
