Transcarpathian Regional Road Service patches pits for Euro 2012

The newly appointed director of the State Enterprise "Transcarpathian oblavtodor" (Regional Road Service), Ivan Gorba said that he received the entrusted management unit in a good condition. However, he added that some difficulties still exist. In particular, debtors owe 4 million to the company and it also has some debts to suppliers. At the moment the new director is learning the details.

16 branches and two open gravel pits – is the current Oblavtodor’s production structure in the region. Also, the company employs 1260 people. The average salary in the system is 1600-1800 UAH. However, Ivan Gorba noted that one of the priorities is to optimize the staff, in particular, he speaks of the job cuts. For example, there are some labor groups who worked only 2-3 days a week last year.
This year, about 50 million hryvnia will be allocated for the maintenance of the Transcarpathian roads – said the director. In addition, about 20 million will be provided for the roads, which are owned by local authorities. In particular, in Uzhgorod it is planned to perform road repairs for 6.6 million hryvnia. However, according to Ivan Gorba, it is still unknown who will do this job in the regional center. This will be determined after the tender and announcement of a winner. Director of Transcarpathian Regional Road Service also noted that now a kilometer of road, following European standard of quality, costs 2.3 million euro.
The company is now actively preparing the road to Euro 2012. The repairs will begin in a few days in four directions: Beregovo – Dyakovo, Berehovo – Luzhanka, Berehovo – Mukachevo and Kyiv – Chop. Road workers are changing road signs, painting road markings and patching pits.
