Iryna Halay, who was the first Ukrainian woman to conquer the top of the world – Mount Everest, decided to try herself in a marathon. Moreover, it will be held in one of the most closed off countries of the world – in North Korea, the publication Segodnya reported.
"I’ve got a visa, now I can reveal the secret. We will run the strangest marathon in the world!!! Pyongyang International Marathon. The North Korean marathon has been open to tourists only since 2014, before that only local ones had participated in it. I am sure it will be unforgettable," – Iryna commented.
Earlier, the famous Ukrainian climber told us about her experience of conquering the highest peak in the world.
The conquest of the Everest took place in 2016. Then Iryna took part in an expedition to become the second woman in the world to have climbed the Mount Lhotse near the Mount Everest, without the use of oxygen cylinders. It is the so-called "death zone", where the human body can not function properly due to lack of oxygen.
