Transcarpathian customs officer attribute the protests at the checkpoint “Tisa” to unwillingness to follow the laws of Ukraine

As we informed, today, October 3, the blockade at the checkpoint "Tisa" continued.

The Transcarpathian customs office officially explained the reason for these protests.

The reason is the protesters’ unwillingness to adhere to the Customs Code of Ukraine.

The customs office explain that the situation at the customs post "Tisa" was caused by citizens who refused to comply with the legal orders of customs officials to declare goods and present them for customs control.

This applies to those people who, when importing through car checkpoints goods worth up to 500 euros and weighing up to 50 kilograms, must fulfill two requirements, namely: a person must have been absent in Ukraine for more than 24 hours; and a person enters the country no more than once within 72 hours. After all, these are the rules provided for in the Law of Ukraine No. 2245-8 which set requirements for citizens on VAT taxation and Art. 374 of the Customs Code of Ukraine regulating the payment of import duties.

At present, customs officers are issuing decisions on refusal to let into the customs territory of Ukraine goods which citizens refuse to present for customs control, as well as aimed at verifying the authenticity of documents submitted as the basis for importation of goods with tax exemption on the grounds established by the Customs and Tax codes.
