Eight Vietnamese and one Uzbek were detained today by border guards in Transcarpathia.

Around 8.00 o’clock in the morning, operatives from the Western Regional Directorate of the State Border Guard Service prevented illegal crossing of the Ukrainian-Slovak border by illegal immigrants from Vietnam. Having received information about a possible attempt to move a group of Asians across the border, officers of the operative and search department of the city of Velyky Berezny arranged an ambush near the state border. The border guards noticed 6 men and 2 women who were moving towards the border near the city of Velyky Berezny. The detainees, who were not carrying any documents, said that they were citizens of Vietnam. Currently, the National Police investigative team is working at the scene.

At the moment, verification measures to establish the circumstances of the offense and the people involved in the trafficking of illegal migrants are being taken. After identification the offenders, they will be brought to administrative responsibility under Part 2 of Article 204-1 of the CAO "Illegal crossing or attempt to illegally cross the state border of Ukraine."

In half an hour, another illegal migrant was detained by border guards of the "Verkhovyna Bystra" department. During the monitoring of the state border line, the border patrol found signs indicating possible presence of unknown people near the border. In order to conduct searches, the border guards sent a response group, who found an unknown person at a distance of 15 meters from the border. The detainee had only a driver’s license. According to it, it was found that the man, who tried to illegally enter the Republic of Poland, was a 47-year-old citizen of Uzbekistan.

The detainee was taken to the "Verkhovyna Bystra" border guard unit for drafting the relevant procedural documents. His further fate will be determined by the court.
