Transcarpathian authorities haven’t got enough money for “Ripa”

Traditional festival "Hutsul Ripa" (“Hutsul Potatoes”), which is held every year in September, in Lazeshchyna village in Rakhiv district, will not take place this year. This was confirmed for "Chas Zakarpattya" by its organizer, chairman of the Transcarpathian Regional Centre for Development of Rural Green Tourism union Bogdan Prannichuk. In particular he said that the reason for this decision lies in the absence of governmental support. "In past years, they didn’t help much with money for the organization of the event. Now we do not want to ask again"- said the organizer.

We reminded Bogdan that the election campaign has already started and they could find sponsors. "Yes, I thought about it. But I decided not to turn the culinary fest into a propaganda platform. This would spoil the image of the event", said B.Prannichuk.

We remind that the festival "Hutsul Ripa" is the only festival of this kind in the region. It specializes in various dishes made of potato, which is treated like bread in Rakhiv district. Culinary event is popular far beyond the region, because it advocates the preservation of local culinary traditions: local folk musicians used to play at the event and a lot of guests and tourists visited it as well as well-known Ukrainian artists.
