October 16, in Kyiv, at the Forum on renewable energy and energy efficiency, they announced the results of the energy efficiency rating of Ukraine (Ukrainian Energy Index 2013), in which Transcarpathian region ranked first.
Energy index of regions was determined for industry, agriculture, services and residential complex. The average energy index of corresponding sectors in the European Union was set as the standard for comparison. The percentage relation of regions to this figure determined their place in the ranking.
The overall efficiency of energy consumption in Transcarpathian region is 64.3% of the EU level. The second in terms of level of energy efficiency is Chernihiv region with a score of 63.8%, Vinnytsia ranked third – 62.9% of the EU level.
Notably, last year Transcarpathia in the energy efficiency rating occupied third place, behind Vinnytsia and Kherson regions.
