The Acting Chairman of the "Ukrzaliznytsya" PJSC Yevhen Kravtsov has informed the public that the construction of the Beskydy tunnel in the Carpathians has officially been completed.

The Construction Association "Interbudmontazh", which was building the tunnel, in turn informs: the length of the tunnel with the portals is 1822 meters, the tunnel itself is 1764.5 meters. In total, 81872 cubic meters of concrete and more than 7 thousand tons of reinforcement were used. 210 thousand cubic meters of soil were removed and 160 tons of explosives were used.
The construction of the new Beskydy Tunnel began on October 29, 2013 and was planned to be completed in the II quarter of 2018. In the summer, "Ukzaliznytsya" informed that the work on the construction of the Beskydy tunnel was scheduled to be completed on November 6, 2017.
The Beskydy tunnel is a two-track tunnel and built on a mountain pass in the Carpathians, at the Beskyd-Skotarske stretch. It is the second longest railway tunnel in Ukraine.
