Officers of the Tyachiv police department together with the investigators of the Main Office of the National Police in Transcarpathian region are establishing all the circumstances of the accident involving three cars on the road between the settlements of Nyzhnya Apcha and Solotvyno, which resulted in five people getting injured.
On Tuesday, February 20, in the evening, the police received a report of an accident involving three cars between the village of Nyzhnya Apcha and the village of Solotvyno, Tyachiv district. The investigative team at the scene found out that a Peugeot was moving in the direction of the city of Rakhiv, it was driven by a 52-year-old resident of Nyzhnya Apsha, and there were four residents of the village of Kostylivka aged 53, 22, 21 and 17 years in the cabin. The Peugeot began to overtake the car that was moving ahead, but the driver lost control and hit a car Toyota Camry on the oncoming lane. Both drove into a ditch after the collision. The Toyota was driven by an 18-year-old resident of Nyzhnya Apsha. As a result of the collision, everyone in the Peugeot got injured: the driver sufferred serious head and chest injuries, a passenger on the front seat – a head injury. In addition, the minor passenger was diagnosed with concussion, closed craniocerebral injury, bruise of the cervical spine and fracture of the cervical spinal disc. A 22-year-old and a 21-year-old men sufferred bruises as a result of the accident.
The driver of the Toyota Camry, who tried to avoid a collision with the Peugeot, hit a brake, and as a result, a car Volkswagen, which was moving behind, hit the Toyota. The Volkswagen was driven by a 19-year-old resident of the village of Topchyno. The people in the Volkswagen and the Toyota did not need medical help.
The police suspects the driver of the Peugeot in a criminal offense, as provided in Part 2 of Art. 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, that is, violation of the traffic rules that caused severe bodily harm.
