They want to abolish “summer” time in Ukraine again

Ministry of Economic Development has prepared a draft law which proposes to introduce the second time zone without annual transition to "summer" time. In case the bill is adopted, it can enter into force on March 1, 2013. This is stated in the explanatory note to the bill "On the computation of time in Ukraine". "Today the following procedure for time calculating applies in Ukraine: the second time zone (Kyiv time) with annual clock resetting on the last Sunday in March one hour forward and on the last Sunday in October one hour backward. The draft law introduces on the territory of Ukraine the second time zone (Kyiv time) without annual clock resetting" – the document says. Ministry of Economic Development noted that the establishment of such a procedure for time calculating is aimed at "ensuring the improvement of public health, increase of population efficiency, reducing the number of accidents." Also, the document states that the bill was registered by the Parliament of Ukraine February 27, 2012 and has been withdrawn, but is still topical. "The effective date was changed from "November 1, 2012" to "March 1, 2013," in order not to switch in the spring of 2013 to "summer" time (last Sunday in March), which was decided at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on January 30, 2012 year" – the authors of the bill noted.
