Regarding the situation with ARVI and influenza in Uzhgorod
According to the reports of Uzhgorod medical institutions, the epidemic situation with acute respiratory viral infections (ARVI) and influenza in Uzhgorod remains relatively stable with signs of intensification. This was reported by the health department of Uzhgorod city council and Uzhgorod city and district branch of the State Institution "Transcarpathian Regional Laboratory Center of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine".
As of Monday, January 27, 741 cases of medical aid requests for ARVI have been registered (653.8 per 100,000 people). Of the total number of patients, 453 are children under the age of 17 (61.1% of the total, 159 persons more than that in the previous week), the growth is 1.5 times.
The incidence among adult population in the city – 288 people – decreased by 5.5% (17 people) compared to the last week (305 people).
Since the beginning of the year, 12 cases of laboratory confirmed diagnosis of seasonal influenza type A have been reported, including 2 cases of type A + B influenza (rapid methods). The data confirm the circulation of seasonal influenza viruses among the city population, including school-age children.
Thus, during the current 4th week, a slight increase in the epidemic process in comparison with the previous week was recorded in Uzhgorod (an increase of 23.7% + 142 cases) and it is classified as low, with the incidence rate of 653.8 per 100 thousand people, which is below the epidemic threshold by 32.4% (epidemic threshold is 967.7 per 100 thousand people). The indicators and their dynamics do not require to recommend the introduction of quarantine-restrictive measures in schools.
It is recommended to actively implement preventive measures in the city’s medical and educational establishments provided for in the "Comprehensive Plan of Interventional Preparedness and Response During the Epidemic Rise of Flu and ARVI for 2019-2020".
