The winners of the “Book-o-mania 2016” in Transcarpathia have been determined!

On the eve of the World Day of Book and Copyright, the winners of the regional stage of the nationwide competition of children’s reading "Book-o-mania 2016" have been determined. Leaders of children’s reading, the most active, the most educated children – winners of city and district competitions, organizers of children’s reading, employees of children’s libraries of districts and towns of the region gathered today in the main children’s library of Transcarpathia.

The initiator of the competition "Book-o-mania" is the NGO Forum of Publishers. The competition in the region is organized by the Transcarpathian Regional Library for Children and Youth, central libraries for children in cities and districts with the support of the Department of Culture of the Regional State Administration, regional organization of the National Union of Writers of Ukraine, National State Publishing House "Karpaty".

The holiday began with greetings from future "best readers" of Ukraine – students of 1-A form of the school №1 in Uzhgorod.

Honorary guest, a famous writer, journalist, playwright, member of the National Union of Writers of Ukraine Oleksandr Havrosh congratulated young book lovers of the region on the occasion of the book holiday and wished them victory. Also, he presented the participants his new book "Legends of the Silver Rus", which was published recently at the publishing house of Oleksandr Harkusha.   

 

  

 

The Jury Chairman Vasyl Husti noted the talents of each of the contestants, and announced the decision of the jury, according to which "The best readers of Ukraine-2016" in Transcarpathian region became a student of the 6th grade from the village of Pidpolozzya in Volovets district Yevhenia Terban and a student of the 7th grade from the city of Irshava Victoria Tynta.

Another winner – "Book Knight of the publishing house "Karpaty" – was announced by the chief editor of the publishing house "Karpaty" Boris Kushnir. It was a student of the 6th grade from the village of Rakovo in Perechyn district Inna Svystak. All winners received gifts and diplomas. The jury also awarded books autographed by authors to Nicole Hretska, Igor Huley and Kristian Bodok.

 

On May 12, the winners will represent Transcarpathia at the Festival of children’s reading "Book-o-mania" in Lviv, where they will have the opportunity to discuss their favorite books, meet with famous authors, learn about the history and culture of Lviv, learn more about contemporary Ukrainian literature. The organizers promise the participants exciting adventures, new experiences and rewards – new books of Ukrainian publishers and prizes from partners.
