The “Ukrzaliznytsia” wants to open a train route Mukachevo-Budapest

The Chairman of the Board of the "Ukrzaliznytsia" PJSC Wojciech Balchun said that they are negotiating on the launch of a rail link between Budapest and Mukachevo.

He said that in an interview to to the Ukrinform.

"We must restore normal international communications. I recently met with the management of the Hungarian railways because we want to modernize the infrastructure in Mukachevo so that trains go there from Budapest, as well as from Przemysl to Kyiv" – Balchun said.

Earlier, the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Volodymyr Omelian informed that they were working on the project to connect Transcarpathia with Hungarian with a European standard railway track.

"We are developing a new railway connection from Hungary to Mukachevo. It should be a narrow gauge of the European standard. Hopefully, it will be convenient for residents of the region and we will have a good result in terms of rail traffic," – Volodymyr Omelian said.
