The Acting Mayor of Uzhgorod Igor Fartushok today held a meeting in connection with the epizootic situation with African swine fever in Transcarpathian region.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the city office of the State Committee for Consumer Protection, the Patrol Police, the National Police, employees of the Department of Economics and Strategic Planning of Uzhgorod City Council, the directors of most Uzhgorod markets.
It was about taking urgent measures to prevent the spread of the disease. It was noted that the greatest threat in Uzhgorod comes from unauthorized trade, which, despite all efforts, can not be eradicated. The meat sold in the markets is safe, because it undergoes laboratory tests, which can not be said about meat and meat products that are sold in places not specifically intended for this. That is why the heads of all Uzhgorod markets will be warned in writing about the dangerous disease and will be obliged to intensify preventive measures. In addition, sales of sausage and meat products of domestic production will be prohibited even at markets. A working group of employees of the State Committee for Consumer Protection, experts of the Department of Economics and Strategic Planning of Uzhgorod City Council, the municipal street maintenance inspectorate, and the police will be established, which will be carrying out sudden raids and inspections of markets, places of illegal trade.
