The prosecutor’s office are looking into the attempted suicide in Uzhgorod

A criminal proceeding over the incident that took place today, on June 6, 2019, near the administrative building of the Prosecutor’s Office and the Economic Court, was registered under Part 1 of Article 120 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – incitement to suicide. This was reported by the press service of the Transcarpathian Prosecutor’s Office.

Currently, it has been established that the resident of Uzhgorod on the street poured on himself a liquid from a bottle and set fire to himself. After that, trying to put out the fire, he ran to the Uzh river.

The police investigators examined the scene. The man with burns was hospitalized to the Transcarpathian Regional Clinical Hospital, where he is currently staying.

One of the likely reasons for this incident may be the events that took place in 2016 involving the victim, law enforcement officials and employees of a private institution, which is currently being heard in Uzhgorod City Court.

The Prosecutor’s Office of Transcarpathian region express sincere condolences to the victim and his family. The Prosecutor’s Office will ensure an impartial pre-trial investigation and the establishment of all circumstances of the case.
