Yesterday morning, 5 people, who were stealing diesel fuel from an oil pipeline, were arrested in the village of Sil in Velyky Berezny district. The police started investigation into this incident.
Yesterday, on August 16, at about six o’clock in the morning, the police of Velyky Berezny district received from the head of the security service of the State Enterprise "Prykarpatzakhigtrans" a report about the detection of an illegal tie-in into the oil pipeline. The response team of patrol police immediately arrived at the scene of the incident in the village of Sil.
The high-pressure hose connected to the valve installed on the pipe brought law enforcement officers to a private house in the village of Sil almost two kilometers away. The owners of the house are being identified.
As a result of joint efforts of the police and security guards, a group of 5 people, who had made an illegal tie-in into the oil pipeline, were arrested. Among the detainees, there are three residents of Uzhgorod, one local resident and one resident of the neighboring Lviv region. Some of them have been previously convicted of property crimes.
Special equipment for pumping diesel fuel and a van "Mercedes" with barrels filled with diesel fuel inside were seized from the detainees. Similar barrels were also found in the house. In total, about 18 tons of stolen diesel fuel was found.
The police started investigation into this incident. The actions of the men have signs of criminal offenses under Article 292 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Damage to the facilities of main oil product pipelines) and Article 185 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Theft). Investigators are working with the detainees.
